Runner's World Run Streak: We're Going Streaking!!!!

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving when we were sitting around Starbucks sipping our coffees, dripping melted slush and snow onto the floor, and still delirious from the wet, sloppy run we'd just had, one of my running buddies brought up the Runner's World Run Streak they had just read about.

Those endorphins must have been in full effect because my friends and I all agreed to the challenge.  So in addition to my marathon training, which officially begins TODAY, adding strength training to my workouts to prep for the Tough Mudder, I've also committed to running at least one mile every day between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day.  We're going streaking, y'all!!

(I just love this clip from Old School. "Bring you're green hat!")

So today is day 4 of the #RWrunstreak (which is the official hashtag of the streak) and I am happy to say I have committed to every day so far.  Although I technically am on a 5 day run streak because of my Wednesday run.  However, as part of the Runner's World run streak, I completed 3.1 miles on Thanksgiving day at the Gobble Wobble.  Then, a 4.16 solo run on Friday (listening to Christmas music the whole time with no shame.)  And a 5.5 mile run on Saturday with my mom and her friends.  Proof is in the photos below, and in my new account on RunKeeper that my friends and I are using to share and track our runs.

I love doing cheesy smiles.  My big grins have become notorious amongst my friends and they refer to me now as "Katelyn's School of Smiles."

Anyways, the run streak continued today as it was the first day of marathon training for the Paris Marathon!  I will recap the training plan I am using in a few days, but today started off easy with cross training.  So I got my run in for the run streak doing one mile on my mom's treadmill then the two of us went to a spin class together.  My legs are strong, but it's totally crazy how mixing up exercise shakes up your muscles.  I've been running more than I ever have in my life, but man, my legs are tired from spin today!

Lately a lot of people have been telling me how much my mom and I look alike.  However, I just don't see it.  Do you guys?

Welp, I'm heading to bed so I can get up early and get my run in before work.  It's a good thing I am running so much lately because I have spent what feels like 99% of the time I am not running just eating complete junk.  Despite eating far too much sugar, I'm making sure to get lots of vegetables in, but it's just in addition to all the crap.  I need to get that in check...

Also, I feel like these posts lately have just been rants and incoherent.  Since I haven't written in a long time I feel like there is a lot I need to catch you up on.  I feel like I am in a different mind set than I was when I was writing a few months ago and I am not sure if it is coming across in my writing or not.  I know I try to focus this blog a lot about fitness, health, and of course, cooking.  However, sometimes I get mixed up about how much of my real life I should include in here.  Because I haven't been writing in a while, I have lost a little bit about what that balance is.

How much do I share about my friends?  How much do I explain about how my parents are divorced and I have little half brothers?  How much do I explain about where I am mentally and emotionally?  I'm not sure why I've been having a hard getting back into the groove.  I've taken breaks from blogging before and been able to pick back up.  But this time it feels different.  So, I guess, please just bear with me while I get back in to the swing of things!

Happy December everyone.  Hope you have a great week.
